 FAQs

  • We recommend using water saving drip line irrigation to give our gardens the best chance of success while remaining low maintenance and affordable. We are open to installing our gardens without irrigation, however their success depends very much on how committed the client is to maintaining a prescribed watering schedule.

  • Native verge gardens installed with drip line irrigation will save at least 50% compared to irrigation typically used to maintain a lawn.

  • You may be eligible for various subsidies, however these vary depending on your Local Government Area. These may include subsidies on native plants, mulch, and a Waterwise verge rebate of up to $500.

  • In some instances council approval is required. This is sometimes dependent on the features you’d like to include on your verge (e.g boulders, trees) and on your Local Government Area. We will advise you if any approvals are required and can assist you in getting them.

  • No, we are open to using exotics although they need to be appropriate to our climate, and not need extra water and care.

  • Yes, this is possible, although does have its challenges every verge is different so get in touch and we can work out a plan.

  • For large verges we use a bobcat company to remove the lawn and 100mm of soil, for smaller verges we might use a Kanga (mini digger) or hand dig.

On The Verge is a plant centred landscaping practice. Our climate appropriate planting designs celebrate local plants. We see each garden as a part of an ecological chain that supports insects and birds. We are committed to creating greener and more diverse suburban landscapes for all life to enjoy, live and thrive.
